Well, V2 of this site is definitely going to happen whether I like it or not. As of right now, I only have some preliminary development stuff done, but I have run out of ideas of stuff to do. I don't want to waste time redeveloping something I’ve already redone 5 times, that gets boring. So, since I’m not a creative person, I’m asking everybody else what they think.
So far, here's the basic plan:
- phpBB (or then current forum system) user integration to provide additional features (don't know what yet, looking for ideas here). Not doing any profile/myspace system integration, the forums already handle profile display/updates, no reason to re-invent the wheel here, but some additional privileges gained from logging in would be nice.
- No more off-site tutorials. I know I don't have many on-site, but being a "huge" *cough* database for purpose of promoting other sites has gotten old and is abused by too many other sites.
- Doing away with the art-related sections as coding is what I want to focus on. PHP, CSS, JavaScript, ASP, Java, and C are some examples (no, HTML will not be included).
- In working over at p2l, I have been inspired to write up a few articles pertaining to frequently asked questions, so I plan to add that in somewhere.
- I also plan to add a section on the main page to display recent news postings at other popular sites. As I am no longer going to have a shoutbox, I have room to add content that serves an actual purpose.
- The resource section is going to stay. It's going to eventually get a few more things added to it and some organization for said "things" (no, porn is not one of the "things").
Other than that, the template is going to have a rather interesting change. I've basically taken the current one and hacked away at it till it was something else, but there will be no confusing this site with another when it comes out.
Any ideas for "features" I could add, possible stuff relating to the use of AJAX would be an interesting challenge. Good ideas for content would be nice also. _________________ Current user reading this: Anonymous
